Meze Greek Fusion (San Diego Gaslamp)

I had the great honor the other night of being treated to dinner at Meze Greek Fusion in the Gaslamp.  It was every bit as good as they said it would be.  Imagine a menu full of Greek specialties on small plates, allowing you to experience the gamut of greek cuisine! We started with tzatziki and hummus, both homemade. The...

Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar (Disneyland)

Mr A has been wanting to check out Trader Sam’s for a long time. Trader Sam’s and Tangaroa Terrace are situated right next to the pool at the Disneyland Hotel. Oh my, has the pool area been upgraded over the years.  Now it has 3 pools (plus a splashdown pool for the 2 story slide).  It still looks mighty small for...

Pokirrito (Kearney Mesa)

Come early to this Poke bowl stop or wait in a huge line! You can only remove ingredients from a Pokirrito, but you cannot add any. Maui Sunrise burrito with Crispy karaage chicken, lettuce, red pepper, and crispy fried onion. The wrapper is a 8″ square of nori which collapses fast, so don’t be too quick to get rid of...

Perseids 2016

Gizmodo: How to Watch the Exceptional Perseid Meteor Shower Tonight. http://google.com/newsstand/s/CBIwj87BiS0 Get Ready for the Perseids Meteor Shower: ‘It Will Rival the Stars in the Sky.’ http://nyti.ms/2b65OFR Teaser pictures notwithstanding, we saw only a few shooting stars on Thursday night – 2 to 4, depending on who’s counting.  We were not overwhelmed.  But an hour spent watching the stars is...

Spicy City – one more time

Can we get enough of Spicy City? Apparently not because we went there today again. It was quite busy at 1 o’clock on a Saturday afternoon but they had one big table left in the restaurant, just for us. The waitress recognized us and asked if  they should put in the order for pan-fried buns right away. Of course! We...

Yosemite Swimming Holes

Back in the day, Yosemite was purely a hiking destination, but over the last few decades we have seen it turn into a very popular river rafting park.  There aren’t any real rapids here (unless you are here during peak water flow).  The four places mentioned below have some of the slowest current, broadest banks, and biggest pools in the Valley....

Bawarchi Dosa (Miramar, San Diego)

Visited this place for lunch today with coworkers so I did not get extensive pictures (I know, I need to get over it). Good buffet selection with tandoori chicken, chicken makhni, and more than several dishes I was not familiar with but were also delicious. Heat level is high, and the flavors are very good. We didn’t get a chance...

Ke’e Beach (Hanalei, Kauai)

Our favorite beach in the world. Ke’e lies at the very feet of jagged and heavily wooded Pali cliffs that rise steeply above you. Once you’re in the water, turn and look up at the cliffs. The white terns with their long tails wheel above you between the crags. The water is deliciously cold. Wear your surf socks, because later...

Eating House 1849 (Koloa, Kauai)

A new restaurant from Roy Yamaguchi in the Kikui’ula shopping center, 1849 Eating House is meant to combine the rich multi cultural cuisines of Hawaii with haute cuisine preparation. It was a beautiful evening from the second floor overlooking the south coast of Kauai. One thing I love about Roy’s is how they bring out snacks for the kids to...

Island Palm (Kapa’a, Kauai)

I really want to love Island Palm and I love the ladies that work here, but the quality has really fallen off since our last visit four years ago. The fried rice was extremely blah. The sausage was greasy and the flavor was not good. So sad….previously they had some of the best on the island.

Why I hate Teavana

Because I feel like a idiot and a sheep for paying that much for tea. Its very off-putting to be forced to pay outrageous prices for tea. As if tea was something for rich people that must cost a fortune, or else not be worthwhile. The tea shop next to Tea Station offers tea at every price point. You don’t...

Diamond Jamboree mall (Irvine, CA)

Diamond Jamboree mall in Irvine is supposedly one of the finest Asian food malls in all of the United States, so tonight we checked it out. Located at Jamboree and Alton, there does appear to be an extremely high number of well known eateries here. However be warned that this mall has the most atrocious parking in the entire universe. You...

Julian Cafe (Julian, CA)

Dropping the girls off at YMCA camp today and stopped in for lunch. Julian was really packed today due to 4th of July crowds – and very hot. The Julian Cafe is packed with little oak tables in a quaint atmosphere, and the service was very good – fast and they kept our drinks filled up. We tried the following:...

Pailin Thai (Rancho Bernardo, CA)

One of my very favoritist Thai restaurants in San Diego, I have been going to Pailin Thai ever since it was called Spices Thai. We love their Panang Curry; Larb Kai; Spicy Basil with Ground Chicken; Spicy Noodles (like Basil Chicken but with noodles) ; Mint Leaves (like Basil Chicken but with Mint) ; and Chicken with Cashews. Is it...

YouTube Food addiction

Chinese Crepes (Jian Bing). Forget those little french crepes and their cute little spreader rakes. In China they do it BIG. Then put egg, green onion, brown sauce, and crunchy wontons inside! Looks yummy. I am sorry we haven’t run into this in China yet! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOcmUl8c7Sc (huuuuge crepe. watch him crack a raw egg on top and spread it in...
