Friday 1/3/19 (Amsterdam)
Classic snacks at Albert Hynh Market. FRESH tender Stroopwafels, totally unlike cold ones. Carmel is always better warm anyways. And crisp little pancake Poffertjies with powdered sugar.
Lunch at Bhatti Pasal Nepalese near Rembrandt Square. Delicious Chicken Chowmein with curry flavors, dry fried. Sekuwa BBQ chicken with furandana (crispy beaten rice) and mint and tomato sauce.
Afterwards, we ran into dessert round one at the stalls at Rembrandtplein. A Brotwurst (that we didn’t try yesterday at the Brugge Christmas festival) that was juicy and delicious with five kinds of sauces. Next time we will get a currywurst. Enjoy it near the Rembrandt statues.
Right next door, you can try a plain oiliballen and one filled with Bavarian cream. I’m quite sure I’ve never had real Bavarian Cream in the States. This tastes like a cross between vanilla buttercream frosting and creme brûlée.
Then for the piece de resistance, visit Hop & Stork. Hot Chocolate, Dark Hot Chocolate, Cafe Cacao with gold flecks, complimentary chocolate mousse, complimentary chocolates, and tiny crystal tumblers of water. Forget High Tea, THIS is sheer perfection.
