Jaleo, Disney Springs
We have been fortunate enough to have visited Spain several times and have become big fans of Spanish food. One of our favorite Spanish restaurants in the US is Jaleo. We love the Las Vegas location in the Cosmopolitan, and tonight we visited the location in Walt Disney World in the Disney Springs shopping center. Spanish food is still a mystery to many Americans, which is a shame because the bold flavors and smaller portion sizes of tapas are a great introduction to the Mediterranean diet.
Tonight the 2 of us shared the Jamon Serrano plate, the Pan de Crystal con Tomate, the Garlic Prawns, the Endive with goat cheese and orange, and the “Bikini” pressed sandwich with Jamon and Manchego. I can also recommend the fried spicy potatoes, any of the cheeses, and any of the cured meats. Next time I want to try the Presa Iberico de Bellota, boneless pork shoulder, $75 for 2 people.
To me the Jamon is best eaten with bread or rolls, it’s not meant to be eaten by itself. The Endive which we tried for the first time, was fantastic especially if you like citrus. The shrimp were magnificently fresh. Jaleo did not let us down. And the waitress took special care to help with menu choices. The Google rating of Jaleo is less than four stars and unfortunately it appears folks struggle with the unfamiliar menu choices and the high prices.
Also recommended is the Sangria!
This is gourmet Spanish food so the prices will be a bit shocking but come on, you’re at Disney, you’re already immune.
You’ve gotta give Spanish food a few tries to appreciate it. (Shout out to Costa Brava in San Diego!) Then come to Jaleo and you will understand what all the fuss is about.
