Jamon Serrano
Anyone who’s been to Spain has probably encountered Jamon Serrano, the Spanish version of prosciutto. Very concentrated in flavor, it is usually served in paper thin slices. One of Ms S’s favorite foods (go figure), it’s one of our family favorites. We often buy Jamon Serrano from Pata Negra market in Pacific Beach or enjoy it at Costa Brava restaurant next door.
Imagine our surprise to find it at Costco! They had cut off the hoof, probably to reduce packaging cost. Makes it less authentic, but also less likely to frighten the grandparents.
No we didn’t pull the trigger. I’m not sure that even our family could polish off an entire Jamon.
