Camo

I’m really conflicted about wearing Camouflage. It’s extremely popular right now for jackets and pants. In my crazy family, we kids were pretty much forced to wear it and it’s not a memory I cherish. It literally took me 45 years to even start wearing the color olive or khaki green. So I found this jacket at Lane Bryant, it got great reviews on the website, I liked the shirt-jac style and it has floral embroidery on the front which softens it a bit. No embroidery on the back though, so i fear it looks pretty straight military from the back.

Only those who have zero connection whatsoever to the armed forces can wear camo without worrying about being mistaken for someone in uniform. I mean, someone wearing camo at the mall can have vastly different meanings – a cute girl in a fashion jacket (stylish), a military person on active duty (respected but not stylish), or some crazy person wearing inappropriate army surplus clothing (neither respected nor stylish).

Case in point:

Yeah, the jacket’s going back.
