Roy’s La Jolla
Mr A says he likes the idea of Roy’s more than the actual food but it’s still one of my favorites, in fact it was one my three (!) requested dinners on my birthday weekend.
We sat at one of the high bar tables against the kitchen. The other dining room tables are often windy and cold under the air con vents.
Roy’s Old Fashioned was very nice. Bars are using these small dark cherries instead of the maraschino, they look tidy and contrasty against the de rigeur orange peel.
We love the Canoe appetizer with the lobster potsticker, ribs, and sushi.
As i mentioned, Mr A didn’t care for his Short Ribs and Butterfish, he said both were dry. He never sends his food back so he never gets a chance to experience it the way the kitchen really intended.
Ms S enjoyed her filet as always. She is a steak person like her Nana.
I loved my Opah with sliced asparagus.
We also got a free dessert for my birthday! I requested the pineapple upside down cake.
I think Roy’s food is well executed. And of course I love the Hawaiian fusion vibe. Still a favorite.
