How could you not (Campfire, Carlsbad CA)
Campfire is a highly acclaimed new American restaurant in Carlsbad. It has tons of outdoor seating.
To start, Mr A ordered an L.E.S. (gin and mint), and I ordered their version of an Old Fashioned, the Speyside Tiger. It basically tasted exactly like an OF. I love the orange zest flavor.
The steak tartare was very tasty, but not sure it actually contained Kobe Beef. Is it me or is tartare being cut in a more crudo fashion these days? I thought it was supposed to have the texture of ground beef.
The sweet potatoes and Iberico Pork were delicious together. The green garlic sauce on the potatoes went with everything. And all the components of the pork must be tasted together – the preserved lemon, the orange, the onion, the green olive, the cilantro pesto.
And the bill is presented in a field notebook which contains, of course, a picture of a shark (because we’re near the ocean), and of course the shark is eating a guy, and of course, both have balls and a penis.
Fiesta Liquor across the street had Raspberry Zingers, but you know they contain high fructose corn syrup so I had to pass them up.
